Some Tips To Protect Your Beasties In The Heat

Your beastie needs protection in the heat as much as anyone else. They get hot, they need water. Most people with beasties know how deal with them and the heat, but here's some tips anyways.

If your beastie is outdoors be sure he or she has access to plenty of cool water and shade.

DO NOT leave your beastie in a car, even with the windows cracked. There are stories every summer of beasties dying in cars. So if you love your beastie, don't risk it.

If your beastie is overheated, try giving them some cool water, but not too much. Too much water may hurt their kidneys and/or stomach. You could also bath your beastie in cool (around room temperature) water. Cold water could constrict their blood vessels and prevent the cooling process.

Did you know your beastie could get a sunburn? Well they could. Particularly their noses. So if your beastie is going to be outside there are sunscreens available specifically formulated for pets.

Keep in mind that older and younger beasties, as well as beasties with long and/or thick coats may be even more sensitive to heat, so watch them carefully and keep them hydrated, cool and safe.
