According to the Michigan Humane Society, some joggers, jogging down the Detroit River bank heard the cries of the abandoned 4-week-old kitten and rescued it.
The Humane Society said that the joggers found the kitten tied up inside a bag near the Rouge River. The kitten, now being called River, is currently being cared for at the Michigan Humane Society Detroit Center for Animal Care.
MHS veterinarians are monitoring the kitten to make sure it doesn't develop any health or developmental issues due to it being separated from it's mother at such a young age.
The MHS is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for dumping the kitten.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Michigan Humane Society’s Cruelty Investigation Hotline at 313-872-3401. Callers can remain anonymous.
Hope someone finds whoever did that. Thank goodness those joggers heard it crying.
